to read your blog at work... (don't tell anyone) I use a simple tool :

babelfish.yahoo.com

you enter the website you want to go and translate italian -> English and the text will stay in english... really safe, but sometime I have to try 2-3 times to make it work... after that you can surf anywhere..

Hi PTD,
for your proxy problems, have you tried some web proxies ? Some are free...but it depends if your admin tools are using JavaScript or not...

You could also try softwares like logmein.com (free, windows only) to take your home computer in remote desktop...it is free, windows only, and uses http...no open ports from neither the server nor the client !

If it still doesn't work, you could explain me (by mail) briefly how's the setup at your job and could try to help you a bit...

Good luck !

PS : you could also try gotomypc.com (free trial, similar to logmein.com) but by citrix or Team Viewer which works ok for me...as the others have been blocked by...hum...me ! :P

I use Google Docs for this very reason. Write some at home, write some at work, the document follows me around.

(Advanced wordpress/gdocs tip: If you do cut/paste from gdocs, be sure to do so into the HTML editor, not the Visual editor. gdocs has some weirdo formatting that wordpress gobbles up, while pasting into the HTML editor keeps the text clean.)

You could also just have posts a day late (or hours late, depends on your preferance). Write it at work, email it to yourself, and then post it when you get home, or set it to be posted the following day at the normal PTD time.

Another thing you might try is an anonymous proxy. Google anonymous proxy and you'll come up with a bunch of sites like https://proxify.com/ You're only connecting to the proxy site, it's actually connecting to wherever you browse. The one I linked is SSL, so anyone monitoring network traffic can't even see the content of the pages you're browsing. Of course these proxy sites may be blocked as well.

Thanks for the advice, all. I'll look into that addon. I have also thought of writing at lunch then emailing it to myself to post later. I use Windows Live Writer, and have it installed on both computers, so it seems possible. Thanks!

Hey PTD I just came off google reader to post the above again, but I have the name of the wordpress addon, because I use it. Also you can set it up so that it only accepts posts from certain email addresses.

Its called postie and available from : http://www.economysizegeek.com/wp-mail/

Shasmo seems to have a similar suggestion to what I am about to make. When I write my blog posts, I use Microsoft Office (or equivalent) I then copy + paste into Blogger and submit, it takes about 2 minutes from Copy to login, paste and submit. You could take this one step further and just email the word file to yourself and copy+paste it from home.

Blogged in lunch, posted at home.

Hope it helps

-Velk.

I have heard that, with the Wordpress software, you can set it up to check an email address and, if it finds an email sent there, make that into a post. You have to be careful, though, to pick an email address that is VERY hard to guess (something like df4Rfhg_t.f4TTHg@gmail.com) so that you don't end up with Spam posts appearing. That's how I get around the block at work :-)
